I'm a great fisherman but still Jay was able to teach this old dog some new tricks. Fishing was epic and cant wait to have another day like that again.
I have fished with Jay numerous times. I remember the first time when another guide who was already booked on the day I could fish recommended Jay to me and said "He will work his a** off for you." It was so very true. Jay will teach you what you need to know and patiently work with you for as long as it takes on your trip. I've fished Pyramid Lake with him and now I feel very confident on the lake from the teaching he has given me, and have enjoyed success from the things he has shown me. Thanks Jay!
Jay helped us with various techniques, he was extremely informative. He has a great personality and worked very hard for us on the river We are both better fishermen from the experience. I highly recommend!!!
I started fly fishing about 10 years ago and have been going on two or three trips with Jay almost every year of those ten years. We have fished Pyramid Lake, the Truckee, the Little Truckee, the Feather, the Yuba, Milton Reservoir, Nelson Creek, and many others. We always catch fish. We always laugh. We always have interesting discussions about life. We always see new and beautiful country. For me, Jay is just the right blend of fun and technical expertise to enjoy the day and help me progress my skill casting reading water and selecting the right flies and equipment for the days adventure. Fishing with Jay is like fishing with a good buddy that knows way more about fishing than you do. My advice, call Jay and simply ask him where the fish are and then go there and ask him to teach you what he knows.
