Pyramid Lake Fishing Report Feb 21, 2018
What a difference a week or two makes for the Pyramid Lake Fishing Report . The high pressure ridge has finally broken down. The storm door has opened a bit and with it the coldest air temperatures of the winter have arrived. The fishing has gotten pretty good with multiple days of 10+ fish caught and numerous fish over 10 pounds have also been caught since the last fishing report!
Fish are eating MFR, Root Beer Float, Albino, and Green Meanie midges fished under an indicator. Balanced leeches in peacock, black magic, midnight fire and black n pink have all gotten crushed this past week. Balanced Moo Minnow, Upside Down Minnow and Bleeding Minnows are working as well. Start at 8′ to your bottom and adjust accordingly until you get grabs. For shallower beaches such as the Nets start at 4′ and adjust from there.
Stripping flies is working very well at the Nets. Popcorn beetles are my top fly at this time. I like fishing them in tandem with a boobie or a bugger in black, midnight cowboy, white or chartreuse. Vary your retrieve until you get bit, then its game on!
